We love animals here at Animal Comedy, in every form! Big, small, fluffy, scaly, lanky, rotund, we could go on and on. Heck, we even love the ones that could straight up end our lives. It takes every ounce of our will power to not touch the wild trash pandas or big 'ole huggable bears. We're rabbis free and still alive, so obviously, we have some good will power, but, dang it's hard! They're just so cute…

Anyways, let's talk about the kind of animals we're allowed to touch before I go out and find me a mountain lion to persuade to be my bestie (do not do that!). Hamsters! Ahhh, sweet little floof poofs of silliness. We love a good hamster. The way they store found in their chonky cheeks like they don't get feed every day. Their itty bitty hands, seriously, HANDS—it's so cute. And omg, have you touched a hamster before? They are SO soft. Silky smooth. They love to be silly, whether it's on their wheel booking it like an olympian on the race track or they're squirming around in your hands trying to find somewhere to burrow, we love 'em and can't get enough of 'em!

I had a hamster growing up named Chewbacca aka Chewy. She loved to chew, hence the inspiration for the name. She used to always chew her way out of her cage, like a little escape artist, but would always find her way back. Of course, I would be worried and in shambles as a 8 or 9-year-old girl wondering when my sweet baby would return.

I had her for a bout 3 or 4 years before she never returned from one of her great escapes. I was crying for weeks… BUT it was during the time that Kia Soul car commercial with the hamsters came out. So my dad told me that Chewy had gone to become a star in Hollywood and that she was in that commercial. I was old enough to know that was a lie, but it was comforting nonetheless…
